Consumer Reports: The Dangers of Painkillers

According to the article, "The Dangers of Painkillers" from the September 2014 issue of Consumer Reports:

Every year, Percocet, Vicodin, and other opioids kill 17,000 Americans and acetaminophen sends 80,000 people to the ER

People pop these pain pills like candy.  Many people figure - "Hey, I can get it at the grocery store; it can't be bad for me!" It is crazy the damage that these pills can do to your body.  They are detrimental on the stomach, liver, and kidneys just to start.  

When these over the counter pills don't provide enough relief for people they often turn to prescription narcotics such as OxyContin, Percocet, and Vicodin. According to this article, these medications can be as addicting as HEROIN and can have deadly side effects!  46 people per day, or almost 17,000 people per year, die from overdoses of these drugs.

Beauty Strips

WOAH!  I have been using our Beauty Strips for about 2 weeks now and I can't believe how incredible my skin feels!  My face is smoother, softer, and I swear some of my "fine lines" are already fading!  The Beauty Strips are our only product that are not actually strips.  There is a serum and a mask.  I have been using the serum at night so far and tonight I will finally try the mask.  I have heard it makes you feel like you just left the spa when you take it off.  I can't wait to detoxify my skin!  I will update after I try it.

Clean Living

For those of you who follow my FGXpress Facebook page, you've probably seen that I have been posting tips for healthier living.  If you don't already follow I would SO appreciate you "liking" me! I wanted to share this tip with my fellow bloggers because it's one I have really been taking to heart this year.

 Tip of the day: Think about what goes in and on your body.  This is something that I am finally starting to do myself.  I have really been trying to eat "cleaner" - no crazy diet, just monitoring what I'm putting in my body and trying to minimize the chemicals I'm ingesting.  One small change I've been doing is making my own CLEANER Coffee Creamer - it's simple and much better for you than the delish but chemical abundant ones that I have been using for years!    I used this recipe to start.  Now, I add 1/2 a tsp of peppermint extract and a little of my Thunder chocolate power and wahlah - Peppermint Mocha Creamer!

I challenge YOU - what small change can you make to start a CLEANER lifestyle? Please comment with ideas!!

In addition to being mindful about what goes IN my body, I have been more conscious about what is going ON my body.  After doing some research I was shocked to learn of the ingredients that are in some of the pain patches I have used in the past!

Truly, learning about the all natural products of FGXpress have opened my eyes to all of the toxic things I was poisoning my body with!  Even if our products are not the avenue you end up traveling, please do yourself a favor and read up on ingredients!

Sleepppppppp!

I know I talk a lot about how much these strips have helped me and other's with my pain, but I was reminded Thursday night about how much it is helping me with something so seemingly simple that I have struggled with most of my life: SLEEPING!

I had my formal observation at school Friday morning - normally I would be up ALL night the night before. Thanks to my Power Strips I slept GREAT and felt clear headed and ready to tackle this observation!  It ended up going really well.... at least I think so!!

As someone who until recently NEVER slept through the night (even with meds) - I can say I feel SO much better all the way around since I've started sleeping better! That is not something I had anticipated the strips helping with, but it certainly was a pleasant surprise! I can't even believe how much clearer my mind is with a full night's sleep!  It's so incredible how different I feel in the morning without a "medicine hangover" too!
